Lung
Detox
The
lungs are organs that are directly exposed to the air on the
outside world. They are actually in direct contact with the
pollutants coming from the environment. Some of these pollutants
can become trapped inside the lungs or they can be absorbed
by the lungs. Some pollutants are very active that they can
do damage to the lung tissues upon contact. The lung itself
is also an active site for the removal of gaseous wastes inside
our bodies. If the lungs, nostrils and/or the bronchial system
are heavily coated with mucus, the ability of the lungs to
remove waste gases is significantly reduced. This can cause
buildup of waste and toxic gases in the blood stream and also
hinder the absorption of oxygen from the atmosphere.
Breathing
exercises
This
exercise is very helpful in the detoxification of the lungs.
When you breathe in and out, there is an increased blood flow
and your body is stimulated. Deep breathing also helps in
eliminating the poisons from the tissues and enhances the
immune system.
Diet
Drink
lots and lots of fluids in the form of fruit juices or water.
Avoid mucus forming foods like dairy products (cheese and
milk). Anti-mucus foods like onions, garlic, pepper and ginger
should be included in the diet as well. Chlorophyll rich foods
can enhance lung cleansing; examples are chlorella, spirulina
and barley. Fruits which contain bioflavonoids are considered
"lung friendly" examples are apricots, peaches and
plums.
Nutrients
Antioxidants
are very important for the lungs. Make sure you have adequate
intake of Vitamins A, C and E plus selenium, cysteine and
Coenzyme Q10. Ant-infectives like olive leaf extract, colloidal
silver and garlic are good for bronchitis. Quercitin taken
between meals has powerful anti-histamine effect on the body.
